CAPEL PENIEL TREMADOG

COMMUNITY ART COMMISSION

We are inviting applications from artists with a collaborative/participative approach to their work to undertake a series of workshops with members of the local community of Tremadog and from these to create artwork to be incorporated into an interpretation panel in addition to other potential outputs.

Estimated value of work £2,000. Contract period 3mths

Aims of the commission - to create attractive and informative artwork to enhance a panel interpreting Capel Peniel, to create a sense of ownership and a greater understanding within the local community regarding Capel Peniel and its legacy, to create a sense of ownership within the local community regarding the interpretation and telling the story of Capel Peniel, to generate a sense of enthusiasm and potential further projects in relation to art and the local heritage of Tremadog.

It is hoped that members and groups from the local community will participate with a focus on young mothers approached via the local school and other agencies working collaboratively with older members of the community and the congregation specifically.

The artist will be someone interested in working within a Welsh heritage/historical site with an interest in religious places and the role of Christianity at the community and national level. An ethos of collaborative practice and engagement is essential.
