Literature Wales - Training Days

Literature Wales - Training Days
Literature Wales has launched a new series of Training Days which forms part of its Writer Development offer for the writers of Wales.
Two training days are running in February 2020, one in Ty Newydd, Llanystumdwy, and one in Cardiff. Both days are bilingual and open to all writers living in Wales. There is a fee of £15.00 to attend the days (£20.00 including lunch).
The Tŷ Newydd Writer Development Day will take place on Saturday 1 February 2020 at Tŷ Newydd Writers Centre, Llanystumdwy, north Wales; 10.00am – 5.00pm.
This day will focus on delivering literary activity in participatory settings and working with disabled people. Disability Arts Cymru will hold a session on how to run accessible workshops and events, social models and disability etiquette. There will also be a participation workshop with Mari Morgan from Cwmni Frân Wen, and a session on monitoring and evaluating events and projects, specifically for under-represented audiences. The informal nature of the day will allow ample opportunity to network with other writers and Literature Wales staff, and to ask questions.
The Cardiff Writer Development Day will take place on Saturday 15 February 2020 in Cardiff Central Library, 10.00am – 4.30pm.
The Cardiff event will focus on professional development in the publishing sector. The morning sessions will be bilingual with presentations from Literature Wales and a publisher’s panel including Firefly Press, y Lolfa, Graffeg, and the Welsh Books Council. The afternoon session will include presentations from industry professionals on how to be a professional writer, as well as a performance and talk about creative writing experiences by poet clare e. potter.
Our open training days offer opportunities for writers to hone and diversify their skills; develop and professionalise their practice; increase their tools for arts facilitation work; meet and network with other writers; and hear from industry experts. As stated in our Strategic Plan 2019-2022, Writer Development is one of Literature Wales’ three activity pillars.
If you know of a writer who could benefit from this opportunity, more details can be found on our website here
