New Aerial Rig for Circoarts
New Aerial Rig for Circoarts, in Y Festri Llanberis
‘We did it and got ourselves an aerial circus rig with huge thanks to National Grid funding £19,600 towards this £28,000 project with support from Y Festri. It’s been a dream for so long and now has become a reality.
Stage Concepts were fantastically patient designing the frame with us to fit it perfectly into Y Festri. We were able to order aerial silks, hoops and trapeze and all the other rigging and safety equipment to start running regular subsided aerial classes in our community. The grant included training so the amazing expert Simon Edwards from Nant Peris came in for 2 days to run an aerial safety rigging course and soon we will be announcing aerial teacher training for tutors and assistants run by the local talented artiste, trainer and rigger Ethan Kith.
We want to set a standard of excellence so we can build capacity and put unique skills into our community, increasing local opportunities in teaching, training and performing. We are marrying the history of the quarrymen working high on ropes with the fearless climbing culture, but doing it creatively and beautifully. Watch this space to see how this project grows. Very soon we will be announcing subsidised classes for beginners and advanced, children, young people and adults. ‘
